Below you can view pictures of our one and only sire, the soon to be ruler of the roost, our pride, our joy, our boy, Keepsake's H&T Red Rock, AKA Rocky. For those who may not be familiar with the long history of labrador retrievers and may be confused by Rocky's color, Rocky is a yellow lab whose phase is commonly referred to as FOX RED. Fox Red Yellow is the original color of the yellow lab when it was introduced to AKC in the early 1900's from Britian.
Today it can be very hard to find Fox Red yellows, and if you find a true Fox Red you will probably find the name Keepsake somewhere in the pedigree, especially if they are an English lab. It took us several weeks and finally a trip to Pittsburgh to find our boy. Rocky not only carries the Keepsake name in his pedigree, he also carries it in his AKC registered name, because we travelled to Keepsake Labradors to find him and purchase him from, Judy McCormick, his breeder. After having travelled to her location and seeing her dogs, I can only concur with others that she is indeed the top breeder of English Labs in the U.S., with a specialty for Fox Reds.
We can not wait to see our Rock as he continues to grow. He is unbelievably smart, gentle, loving, and full of energy. We hope he will sire his 1st litter sometime next summer, after we have cleared his hips and completed several areas of training. If you view his pedigree you will see that his line originates in the United Kingdom and can be traced to Wynfaul Tobasco who is considered the FATHER of the MODERN FOX RED YELLOW.
